sack the Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Solomon Dalung now
FORMER
Federal Commissioner for Information
and South South Leader, Chief Edwin Clark,
has reiterated his call on President Muhammadu Buhari to as a matter of
urgency, sack the Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Solomon Dalung, as
a member of the Federal Executive Council, FEC.
The South
South leader also said that the Minister must be sacked for the overall
interest of the future of football, and for Nigeria as a country to maintain
its position as the largest country in Africa, just as he stressed that the
Ministry of Sports is not the place for the likes of Mr. Solomon Dalung. According
to Clark, it has become imperative to relieve the Minister of his appointment
because rather than rejoice and tow the line of the government under which he
is serving, the Minister has unfortunately embarked on what he described as
athnic frolic, total disrespect and disloyalty for the Acting President and the
government, in his open show of crass ignorance and incompetence. In a
statement signed by Clark and read to Journalists Thursday by the Secretary
General of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Dr. Alfred Mulade, the Elder
statesman noted that if the government fails to sack him for incompetence and
disloyalty, other ministers would like to emulate him by disregarding the Vice
President. Clark said, “For the umpteenth time, and as canvassed in my earlier
Press Statement, I must maintain that, in the overall interest of the future of
football, and indeed, Sports, generally, and for Nigeria to maintain its
enviable position in Africa, and as we gradually make global impact, it’s no
longer a matter of discretion that, the Ministry of Sports is not a place for
the likes of Mr. Solomon Dalung, as Minister.”
