Celestial Church of Christ Prophet defraudS a widow of N18 million

Detectives at the Anti Fraud Unit of the Force Criminal Investigation Department, Alagbon, Ikoyi, Lagos, have arrested a Prophet with the Celestial Church of Christ, Cotonou Parish, for allegedly defrauding a widow of N18 million, meant for the purchase of a property in Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos.

 Anewa Onoloju The 56-year-old Prophet, Anewa Onoloju, was alleged to have collected the money in three installment from the widow, with a claim to get her Governor’s consent on the supposed land. But trouble started for the widow after several attempts to get receipt of the land from the suspect, failed.
Preliminary investigation into matter, according to the Commissioner of Police in-charge of the Unit, CP Dan Okoro, revealed that the land in question belong to the suspect’s ex-wife and her present husband. Briefing journalists on the Unit’s findings, Okoro said “ During investigation, the whole transaction was discovered to be a scam. The suspect who claimed to be a Pastor/Prophet collected N18 million from a widow, Mrs Oluchi Dillion, claimed he was going to assist her procure a property somewhere in Ibeju Lekki. The amount was given to him but there was no property. The receipt of the said property purchased by his ex -wife was the one he wanted to hand over to the widow. “ During the course of investigation, we discovered that his ex-wife and the her new husband bought this very property. How the suspect got the receipt was unknown to us and he could not disclose that.
