A Hungry Doctor man is a dangerous doctor-NARD
National Association of Resident Doctors of Nigeria is appealing
to Nigerians to please bear with them in respect of their ongoing strike, they emphasized
that they are also human and deserves a fair deal and better standard of living
amidst the inflation and pandemic ravaging this economy of Nigeria.
They stated that it is not their will to embark on continuous
strike but it was as a result of Government’s inability to show fairness and
understanding to their plight by granting their request and agreement, they
stated that a hungry Doctor is a dangerous doctor.
In reaction to their action, Government resorted to embark
with legal proceeding against the body since all diplomatic mechanisms put in
place to get the association to call off the strike yielded no positive result.
Government tried to explain to the striking doctors that the
service they are called for is more of humanitarian and selfless service to
mankind since their profession was enclosed in saving health and life but the
determined Doctors seem unshaken and are more determined to continue with the
strike pending when Government adheres to their demands.
Federal Government of Nigeria filed a charge against the striking
Doctors at the National Industrial Court for adjudication.
On
Monday 17th August 2021 the National
Association of Resident Doctors were in court to honour the summoned of
the court but the minister of Labour was absent and so the The case was
adjourned to 15th September 2021.
The association is however appealing to Nigerians to be
patient as they are trying everything possible to resolve the issue within the
shortest time.
